Whakatane Historical Society
WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of people interested in the history of our local District.
This Journal is published in May and November of each year. It is held in high regard internationally, with several overseas libraries and educational institutes paying a subscription to receive the ‘Historical Review’. The journal is posted to all financial members as part of their annual subscription.
We aim to hold at least four field trips to places of historical interest each year.
• To promote, foster and maintain a public appreciation of all aspects of cultural and historic heritage, with a particular focus on the human history of the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
• To encourage historical research, and to provide for the recording and publication of such research.
We aim to hold at least four meetings each year, offering a featured Guest Speaker and a chance for some social interaction.
